About Pause
Mental health care that meets you where you are.
Pause Behavioral Health is being created for the moments when waiting weeks for support doesn’t feel possible—when you need someone to talk to today or tomorrow.
Why we exist
Too many people in Richmond leave the emergency room with a referral and a wait. They're told help is available, but the earliest opening is weeks away. In the meantime, they're on their own.
Pause exists to close that gap. We're building same-day access to licensed clinicians for adults who need support right now — not a crisis line, not long-term therapy, but something in between.
We believe that getting help shouldn't require planning ahead, navigating a waitlist, or explaining yourself to a stranger over the phone. You should be able to walk in, sit down, and talk.
How we think about care
Access first
Same-day availability isn't a feature — it's the whole point. We're building Pause around the idea that if you have to wait weeks, the moment has passed.
No labels required
You don't need a diagnosis to deserve support. If something is weighing on you, that's enough.
Bridge, not destination
We're not trying to replace your therapist. We're here for the space between — and we'll help you find longer-term care if that's what you need.
Grounded in Richmond
We're a local practice, not a platform. We know this community and we're building something that belongs here.
The people behind Pause
Pause is being built by a small team of licensed clinicians and community health advocates who have seen firsthand what happens when people can't access care quickly enough.
